WHY DID WE JOIN ENACTUS?
Hear it from the 2019-2020 executive team!
I joined Enactus for the purpose of pursuing the non-profit business world, with a team of passionate individuals. I joined because I wanted to prove that there is more to business than the corporate bottom level, and that there is so much opportunity to give back. What I did not realize was how inspiring the experience and the people would actually be. Enactus has enriched my university experience to incredible lengths. Between the communities our team has helped, the valuable friendships I have made, and everything I have learned both professionally and personally, this experience continues to be nothing short of incredible.
There is this stigma that the corporate world doesn't care about people but that isn't true and Enactus is the proof of that. There is something for everyone from competition to social entrepreneurship to hosting one of a kind events. It's a great organization with even greater people involved.
Before joining Enactus Concordia all I heard about Enactus was great things and that they create these amazing projects. After being a PM on a project last year to now being Vice President of Internal Affairs I can definitely say that Enactus goes above and beyond; whether it’s helping indigenous people, to even teaching high school kids about finance. By joining Enactus Concordia I am now able to be a part of these tremendous projects while at the same time, I got to be a part of this new big family with 19 people.
Helping people is simply put, one of my biggest passions and what gets me up in the morning. When I considered getting involved in University, I wanted to find an association that aligned with my values and worked to better the lives of others. Joining enactus was by far the best decision I could have made and to this day, I am beyond grateful for the impact our Enactus group has made. Joining Enactus has allowed me to meet like-minded people which I now consider family. Together we work on projects that impact our environment and various social issues. This association has led me to becoming who I am and provided me with a concrete vision for my future career: one that serves our community and environment for the better.
Like many, I've always wanted to make a positive change in the lives around me, but struggled to figure out how. Combining that desire with my passion for business results in making me want to work harder than ever. Every day, Enactus gives me the incredible chance to feel like I am a part of something, like I am working towards making our world a better place. Best of all, I get to share that feeling with driven, kind, hardworking souls.
After seeing all the amazing projects from the outside, I felt like it was time to be apart of something special. The values that Enactus exhibits are closely related to my own visions so I felt it was the perfect match to be involved and to give back by passing it forward.
Social entrepreneurship is a topic that has always resonated with me. Growing up in Kenya exposed to many social issues at a very young age. At that moment, I wanted to dedicate a part of myself to a social cause. Over the years, I participated in numerous social initiatives in Africa and the Middle East. However, nothing came close to working with Enactus. By looking at the core values of this organization it perfectly aligned with what i wanted to do: taking entrepreneurial action to make the world a better place. In the end, I am truly grateful for this experience and will forever take it with me wherever I go.
I began my journey with Enactus by joining CodElle as a project manager. As I got more involved, I saw what a positive impact Enactus had on our community by creating projects that made a real difference. I began to see firsthand how true change can come about when individuals come together with one common goal: to help others. Joining Enactus as a project manager, and now as an executive has allowed me to become who I am today. Enactus has truly helped me reach my full potential.
VP OPERATIONS CODELLE
I joined Enactus because I wanted to find a way to really have an impact on other people and issues. I realised the Enactus way was not the typical traditional way of helping, which really made me fall in love with it. We get to be socially involved in a way that we see real-world results on the people we’ve impacted which for me is so important. I am so glad of having a bigger role this year and can’t wait to see what we’ll all accomplish!
VP OPERATIONS INSTEP
I remember when I had my interview to become a project manager for Project Foster and I was asked “how would you measure the ways Project Foster meets its goals at the end of the school year?” to which I replied, “by the number of lives we change.”
Two years ago, I was an unmotivated student. Today, I’m a part of a family. This year, I’ve taken on the responsibility of running Project Vive, an incredible project targeting mental health stigma in the youth. In the last year, I’ve improved on my public speaking skills, my leadership skills, and teamwork skills. I’m so glad to be a part of a team of passionate, warm-hearted, and driven students who are striving to actively make an impact in our communities and change lives.
VP OPERATIONS VIVE
Enactus allows students from all over the world to make positive changes in their community. Enactus provides students with practical experience and knowledge on how to grow both a business and a strong network for the future. It introduces them to the world of entrepreneurship, business, and social change.
Throughout university, I've wanted to get involved, making school more than just an academic experience. Enactus immediately stood out to me for its humanistic approach in helping the community around us through many different social projects. For me, joining Enanctus means working with a beautiful team of people that share similar values and want to help create a positive impact on the social and environmental issues around us.
VP PUBLIC RELATIONS
I joined Enactus Concordia for two things: entrepreneurship and social responsibility. Throughout my time at Concordia, I have had a desire to explore the potential of my entrepreneurial spirit. Moreover, I wanted to dive into the numerous social issues that can be addressed with simple, efficient, and integrative business practices. I believe, as Enactus does, in pursuing larger societal purposes in hopes of leaving the world in a better state than we found it in.
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC RELATIONS
Having always cared about social issues and believing that businesses should have a purpose, I wanted to get involved in an association that does more than cater to a particular major. Needless to say, Enactus was the perfect fit. Being VP Marketing allows to me fuse both my passion and work on my skills in addition to shedding light and helping on the amazing projects Enactus has. Joining Enactus has by far been the best decision I’ve made during my undergraduate studies and I can’t believe I get to work alongside such beautiful and hardworking individuals!
For my very first time choosing an association, Enactus stood out to me more than any other with its unique cause, I read "social entrepreneurship" and I was instantly hooked! I was curious to see how this organization runs so many successful projects all at once and was super nervous to join. Truth is, the secret to Enactus’ success is having that shared goal with like-minded individuals, unity as a team and pure hard work. Working in events, I can contribute to these sustainable projects, learn to cultivate my own entrepreneurial skills and have the opportunity to work closely with project Vive as its cause deeply resonates with me. Needless to say, I am extremely glad I joined the Enactus family and hope to give back and keep that process sustainable too!
I honestly did not know about Enactus until I met our great President Paisley last school year. After hearing all the great work that we do and meeting the incredible team, I was super excited to join them for the 2019-2020 year. In the last few months, I have already learned many skills that I would never have had the opportunity to discover while simply pursuing my double-major. As VP Operations for EduQuo, I have been given the mandate to run the newest Enactus Concordia project. In the few months we’ve been in operation, I have had the pleasure of seeing how well our team works together and helps each other out. Being part of Enactus is not only a way to make your time at Concordia more exciting, but also a great way to meet some truly amazing, motivated individuals. From the communities we help, to the inspiring new ideas the team creates, the experience you receive from being part of Enactus is second to none.
VP OPERATIONS EDUQUO
I joined Instep as a project manager not knowing at all what Enactus was, and what a great decision that turned out to be. Getting involved at school is so important but doing something that directly impacts and betters the community is so fulfilling. I joined Instep because I wanted to be involved in helping the Indigenous community but I stayed on Enactus because I get to surround myself with such brilliant people who truly care about their community. Every single person on Enactus brings such crucial traits to the team that keep us open-minded, innovative and able to do what we do efficiently and effectively. If I had the option to do this whole thing again, I would with absolutely no hesitation.
